Just because you love someone, doesn't mean you get to be with them.
Honestly, while I can understand Buffy's need to feel something. But I started to lose sympathy for her after her repeatedly using Spike and then breaking his heart. I mean for fuck's sake he loved her even before he got his soul back. And she led him on. I hope it hurt like hell when she realized what she had done.
When you're broken you can brake the people around you, It's how pain works, call it depression, addiction or whatever
